San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle Alfred Collins sustains season-ending injury

The San Francisco 49ers will play their season opener against the Los Angeles Rams without defensive tackle Alfred Collins. Collins, a 2025 second-round draft choice, was projected to start alongside Osa Odighizuwa on the defensive front. The injury occurred just days before the Thursday night matchup, leaving the coaching staff little time to integrate a replacement from the practice squad. Veteran Kevin Givens is expected to take over the role in the immediate rotation. Last season, Collins recorded 17 tackles and one sack across 16 appearances.
