San Francisco 49ers monitor health of Bosa and Kittle before season opener

The San Francisco 49ers began their final three-day practice block in California before traveling to Australia for their September 11 season opener against the Los Angeles Rams. Defensive end Nick Bosa remained sidelined for the first session on Monday while continuing to manage soreness in his surgically repaired right knee. Tight end George Kittle participated in individual drills as he recovers from an Achilles tendon injury sustained last January. Coach Kyle Shanahan indicated that these upcoming practices will determine if both players are cleared for the travel roster. The team departs for Melbourne on Wednesday night. Additionally, the organization placed linebacker Nick Martin and cornerback Nate Hobbs on injured reserve, requiring both to miss the first four games of the regular season.

"Coach Kyle Shanahan said before the team took the field Monday for the first of three practices before the team leaves the country that the plan was for both Kittle and Bosa to get on the field for team drills this week to prepare for the opener against the Los Angeles Rams on Sept. 11.
