Sandro Mamukelashvili scores 22 points as Georgia defeats Portugal

Sandro Mamukelashvili led Georgia to a 98-90 victory over Portugal in a FIBA World Cup qualifier on Monday. Despite shooting 6-of-18 from the field, the Los Angeles Lakers forward recorded 22 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Georgia recovered from a double-digit deficit to secure the win, following a previous qualifying victory against Montenegro last Friday. Mamukelashvili signed a four-year, $52 million contract with the Lakers in July after spending time with the Toronto Raptors. He is expected to compete for minutes at the power forward and center positions during the upcoming NBA training camp.
