Sanju Samson comments on T20I opening competition ahead of World Cup

Summary

Sanju Samson addressed the competition for India’s T20I opening spots, emphasizing he prefers to compete against opponents rather than teammates. He is contending for a place with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Abhishek Sharma. Despite recent achievements, including being named Player of the Tournament in the 2026 T20 World Cup, Samson's form has been inconsistent, scoring only 33 runs in four T20I innings against Ireland and England. He is currently resting for the Zimbabwe T20I series as the management favors the dynamic opening duo of Sooryavanshi and Sharma. Samson’s statements reflect a need to prioritize team success over individual rivalries.
