Savannah Bananas attract attention with unique baseball exhibitions

The Savannah Bananas played a game at Yankee Stadium on September 13, 2025, showcasing their distinctive style blending baseball with entertainment. Starting in 2016 as part of the Coastal Plain League, the Bananas shifted focus in 2023 to emphasize fun, wacky exhibitions that prioritize fan engagement. The team recently attracted a sell-out crowd for a three-game series at Target Field, contrasting with traditional MLB attendance figures. The popularity of their performances raises questions about the direction and cultural significance of contemporary baseball.
