Savannah DeMelo files suit against Racing Louisville doctors after heart incident

Savannah DeMelo, midfielder for Racing Louisville, has filed a lawsuit against University of Louisville Health and two physicians. The lawsuit stems from a cardiac arrest DeMelo suffered during a match on September 14, 2025, which resulted from a previously undiagnosed heart condition. The game was abandoned as medical personnel attended to her on the field. DeMelo has not played since the incident. On the one-year anniversary of her collapse, she publicly shared her experience with cardiac arrest on Instagram. It has been reported that Racing Louisville may change its medical partnership in the following season.
