Savannah DeMelo sues doctors after heart attack during match

United States women's national team player Savannah DeMelo has filed a lawsuit against University of Louisville Health and two doctors after suffering a heart attack during a National Women's Soccer League match on September 14, 2025. DeMelo's suit claims negligence, stating that the medical team failed to properly diagnose her condition despite complaints of chest pain and dizziness prior to the incident. Nearly six months after her referral to doctor Sarabjeet Suri for evaluation, DeMelo collapsed on the pitch. Following the incident, she was diagnosed with ventricular tachycardia and has not played since.
