Schalke 04 sign Hee-chan Hwang on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers

Schalke 04 has completed the signing of South Korea international Hee-chan Hwang on a loan deal through the end of the 2026/27 campaign. The move brings the 30-year-old attacker back to the Bundesliga following a five-year stint with Wolverhampton Wanderers in England. The newly-promoted club also secured a purchase option for the player, reported by Sky Germany to be approximately €3 million. Hwang previously played in Germany for Hamburg and RB Leipzig before his move to the Premier League. Director of professional football Youri Mulder stated that the club pursued Hwang for his versatility in attacking positions and his extensive international experience. Schalke 04 aims to integrate Hwang into head coach Miron Muslić’s squad alongside other experienced additions made during the off-season.
