Scotland's wheelchair basketball teams secure early victories in 3x3 tournament

Scotland men and women made a dream start to their respective 3x3 wheelchair basketball campaigns with an impressive victory. The men defeated South Africa 15-9 while the women breezed to a 16-1 win over Nigeria in the first of three group games. The women's 3x3 basketball team, though, endured a trickier day on court, but ended on a high, picking up their first victory of the Commonwealth Games against Singapore.

Scotland men's hopes of reaching the quarter-finals of the 3x3 Basketball at the Commonwealth Games suffered a blow with a 21-13 defeat by New Zealand. The Scots had defeated Nigeria 21-16 earlier on Sunday but now sit third in the Pool A table behind Australia and New Zealand. While Scotland have won three of their five games, the two Antipodean sides have won four, with Australia also having a game in hand.

It's brutal and bustling, but Scotland have scooched through to the semi-finals of the men's and women's 3x3 wheelchair basketball. Both teams defeated Wales in their final group game, the men winning 21-10, while the women stormed to a 16-2 victory.
