Scott Borthwick to retire from cricket and join Durham coaching staff

Scott Borthwick, former Durham captain, will retire from professional cricket at the end of the season. He debuted for Durham in 2008 and played 222 first-class matches in his 18-year career, including a stint with Surrey from 2017 to 2020. Borthwick captained Durham to the County Championship Division Two title in 2023 and will transition to a full-time coaching role with the club, working with both the first and second teams. He amassed over 11,500 first-class runs and claimed 229 wickets during his career, having also represented England in all three formats.
