The Scottish FA has identified a preferred candidate for the next head coach of Scotland, hoping to finalize the appointment within two weeks. This decision follows Steve Clarke's resignation after Scotland's World Cup exit this summer, where he ended a seven-year tenure. The new coach is expected to be in place for Scotland's Nations League fixtures starting on 26 September against Slovenia. Craig Mulholland, the SFA's chief football officer, is leading the search and has interviewed a range of candidates. It remains unclear whether the new head coach will be Scottish or from abroad.
