Scottish Rugby dismisses chief executive Alex Williamson after inquiry

Scottish Rugby has terminated chief executive Alex Williamson following an independent investigation into his conduct. Williamson, who had been in the role for 18 months, was placed on extended leave in May. The decision to dismiss him was announced by Jim McGuigan, chair of Scottish Rugby Limited, citing that his conduct fell significantly short of the organization’s standards. Williamson’s appointment came after a troubled succession process that saw Scottish Rugby miss out on another candidate. Current chief financial officer David White will serve as interim chief executive as the organization begins the search for a permanent replacement.
