General manager John Schneider has added three new players to the defensive back group to address the No. 3 cornerback position. Trevon Diggs has joined the practice squad to begin a ramp-up period and is the current favorite to secure the role behind boundary starters Devon Witherspoon and Josh Jobe. Additionally, the team traded for undrafted rookie Avery Smith and signed Terrion Arnold, although Arnold remains on the Commissioner’s Exempt list. Nick Emmanwori continues to handle nickel responsibilities for the defense. The team sought these reinforcements to bolster depth after Riq Woolen departed during the offseason.
