Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold sustained a hip injury during the team's opening game on Wednesday night. With Darnold's status uncertain for the upcoming week, the team faces a decision regarding the starting position. Backup quarterback Drew Lock played in the opener but struggled to spark the offense, prompting discussions about rookie Jalen Milroe. Milroe, a 2025 third-round draft pick, served as the emergency third quarterback on Wednesday and was ineligible to enter the game. If Darnold remains sidelined, Milroe could be elevated to the active roster as the primary backup or receive consideration to start. Milroe previously navigated a mid-season quarterback transition while playing at Alabama during the 2023 season. Seattle management now evaluates whether to rely on the experienced Lock or introduce Milroe to the offense.
