Seattle Seahawks finalize 53-man roster and 17-man practice squad

The Seattle Seahawks have established their initial 53-man roster and 17-man practice squad following the conclusion of the preseason. The team retains a large portion of the roster from the previous season while incorporating new depth at cornerback, including the acquisition of Avery Smith from the Los Angeles Chargers via a 2027 draft pick trade. Trevon Diggs was assigned to the practice squad after being released. Several players, including Cody White, Jamie Sheriff, Noah Igbinoghene, D’Anthony Bell, and Jalan Gaines, were not included on the initial practice squad. White has since signed with the Las Vegas Raiders. The Seahawks are scheduled to open their regular season against the New England Patriots on September 9 at Lumen Field.
