Seattle Seahawks players switch jersey numbers ahead of regular season opener

The Seattle Seahawks finalized their 53-man roster and 17-man practice squad ahead of their season opener against the New England Patriots this Wednesday. Following the conclusion of the preseason, several players opted to change jersey numbers now that additional roster spots are available. Running back Emanuel Wilson moved to number 23, while cornerback Avery Smith took over number 27. Other adjustments include D’Anthony Bell shifting to 34, Beau Stephens moving to 70, Julian Hicks taking 82, and Terrion Arnold moving to 17. Starting linebacker Drake Thomas also updated his jersey to number 32 earlier this offseason. While some of these players are expected to contribute immediately on game day, others like Hicks remain on the practice squad. Terrion Arnold will be unavailable for the upcoming contest as he is currently placed on the commissioner’s exempt list.
