SEC faces bowl selection challenges amid expanding College Football Playoff

In its Week 9 Bowl Projections, Yahoo Sports highlights the complexities of the upcoming bowl season, noting the addition of the TransPerfect San Juan Bowl featuring an ACC team against a Sun Belt team. The SEC is projected to have too many eligible teams for bowl games due to intense conference competition, which may hinder their representation in the College Football Playoff. Projections include multiple matchups for the bowl season but lack clarity on which teams may decline invites, mirroring last year's situation with teams like Notre Dame and Kansas State. The projections are grounded in expectations for over-selection amid existing bowl affiliations and tie-ins.
