Serena Williams set to face Maya Joint in Wimbledon first round

Serena Williams will return to singles action at Wimbledon on Tuesday, July 30, facing Australia’s Maya Joint in the first round. At 44, Williams has received the final wildcard into the draw, marking her first singles match since the 2022 US Open. The seven-time Wimbledon champion will also compete in doubles with her sister Venus, who is 46, starting on either July 2 or July 3. Williams has expressed intentions to prepare thoroughly ahead of her singles match, following recent appearances in doubles at Queen’s and the Berlin Open.
