Several TSSAA football programs announce move to independent schedules

As the TSSAA nears a deadline for the 2027-2029 classification cycle, several Division II-AAA football programs have opted to play independent schedules. Schools making this change include Christ Presbyterian Academy, Father Ryan, Memphis University School, Christian Brothers, Clarksville Academy, and Mt. Juliet Christian Academy. This decision renders them ineligible for TSSAA playoff participation during the 2027 and 2028 seasons. The final day for teams to petition their classification is October 2.
