Shae Wilson wins bronze medal for Norfolk Island at Commonwealth Games

Summary

Shae Wilson, a bowler from Norfolk Island, secured a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games on August 2, 2026. Despite limited facilities at home and a transition to indoor bowling, Wilson triumphed against reigning world champion Emma Firyana Saroji of Malaysia. This victory marks only the island's third medal in Commonwealth Games history, adding to previous wins in 1994 and 2018. Wilson described her success as surprising given the struggles her home faces with green maintenance and the lack of indoor training opportunities.
