In the midst of all the social media beef between fighters in the sport today, Shakur Stevenson spent a little time breaking down his ongoing beef with Tank Davis. While once on friendly terms, their relationship has soured over the years and while Shakur can’t pin it down to any one particular thing, he does think Tank has some insecurities about him. “There’s so much that happened in that situation,” Stevenson said of his falling out with Tank. “I don’t know what it is with that dude, I don’t know why is there like so much hatred upon me, but it is what it is. At the end of the day, look at this, if you ever look at me when I talk about him now — when I was younger I used to kind of be a little bit different, I used to be straight disrespectful — as I got older, more mature, I started learning how to speak in front of these cameras, learning how to talk. “But, if you ever pay attention to me when I talk about him, I always say like he’s a special fighter, he’s a tremendous fighter. I try not to talk down on his name because I know that he’s a good fighter, I give him his credit when it’s due. But if you listen to him, he don’t never say nothing good about me. He don’t got nothing good to say about me. But I think it comes to like some type of insecurity. “You know I’m the truth. Like, at the end of the day, you know I’m the truth, I know you the truth. So we the best of the best and I been saying it for years. So I’m going to keep it that way. I ain’t going to lose my integrity. Hopefully he do his thing, I don’t wish no ill upon him. Hopefully he come back and get all that other stuff situated.” At the moment Tank’s boxing career has been in a medically induced coma with no definitive prognosis about an eventual return. That, however, hasn’t prevented him from being a hot topic of conversation in the boxing world as he’s still a huge money generator in the lower weight divisions, and therefore represents big paydays for potential foes.
