Shane Bieber returns to Progressive Field for first time since trade

Shane Bieber returned to Progressive Field on Tuesday for the first time since the Cleveland Guardians traded him to the Toronto Blue Jays last season. The 31-year-old pitcher is currently on the injured list with elbow inflammation and did not participate in the game. Bieber spent time on the field greeting former teammates and coaches before the series. The right-hander, who earned AL Cy Young honors with Cleveland in 2020, was traded to Toronto in exchange for pitching prospect Khal Stephen. Bieber remains on the injured list following his most recent outing against Tampa on August 20. He expressed appreciation for his time in Cleveland and his history with the franchise, including the 2019 All-Star Game held at the venue.
