Sharks' Orlov, Askarov, and Chernyshov to miss international competition

The International Ice Hockey Federation announced Russia's ban from competition will remain in effect until at least 2027. As a result, San Jose Sharks defenseman Dmitri Orlov will not be eligible to return to international play. Goalies Igor Chernyshov and Yaroslav Askarov also face delays in pursuing national team spots. The ban prevents Russia from participating in the 2027 Men's and Women's World Championships, and further review regarding the Women's World Championship will occur in November. The IIHF cited safety and operational concerns in their decision.
