Sheldon High School hosts childhood cancer awareness fundraiser at upcoming games

Sheldon High School is holding "We Are Gold" toy drive nights during upcoming athletic events to benefit childhood cancer awareness. The initiative is led by student Danielle Bixby, a two-time childhood cancer survivor, in recognition of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Volleyball players will host North Eugene on September 8, while the football team hosts Summit on September 11. Organizers are placing collection bins at both venues for donations to Doernbecher Children's Hospital and Randall Children's Hospital. Fans are encouraged to wear "We Are Gold" T-shirts, and childhood cancer survivors are invited to be honored during the football game's halftime. Additionally, Papa's Pizza on Coburg Road is donating half of its September 8 proceeds to the school leadership class for those using a specific fundraiser flyer.
