Sherfane Rutherford supports Babar Azam after Tri-series final performance

On October 31, 2026, Sherfane Rutherford expressed his support for Babar Azam via a social media post after Azam scored a duck in the Tri-series final against Sri Lanka. This marked Azam's seventh consecutive innings without a half-century, raising concerns over his form. Pakistan's batting coach Mike Smith reiterated the team's backing for Azam amid increasing pressure for improved performances. Rutherford's message echoed a similar sentiment Azam once shared with Virat Kohli during a challenging time in Kohli's career, stating, 'This too shall pass; stay strong, buddy.'
