Shinnecock Hills prepares to host sixth U.S. Open this week

Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, N.Y., will host the U.S. Open this week. It's set to welcome the championship for the sixth time and was last featured in 2018. Shinnecock is scheduled to host both the 2036 women’s and men’s U.S. Opens consecutively, solidifying its role in the long-term championship rotation. USGA CEO Mike Whan emphasized the importance of Shinnecock as a potential anchor site, amidst the three official ones already named. Historical significance includes hosting the second-ever U.S. Open in 1896 and iconic moments from previous tournaments.
