Shohei Ohtani faces prolonged absence as Mark Walter faces federal inquiry

Summary

Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani remains sidelined and is expected to miss Saturday's game. This absence would mark his longest stretch out of the lineup since joining the team, having only missed two games previously during a 2025 paternity leave. Manager Dave Roberts indicated he will evaluate Ohtani's status on Saturday afternoon before finalizing the lineup. In other team news, Kyle Tucker recorded a home run in the sixth inning of Friday's game, his first at Dodger Stadium since mid-June. Meanwhile, Dodgers chairman and owner Mark Walter is the subject of a federal investigation regarding his insurance dealings. A recent report examined the ownership group's 2012 acquisition of the franchise and connections between Walter and the life insurance company EquiTrust. This investigation follows the sale of the insurance firm to Amistad Financial, a company linked to Walter.
