Shreyas Iyer discusses working with Gautam Gambhir ahead of Afghanistan series

India captain Shreyas Iyer expects his past experience working with head coach Gautam Gambhir at Kolkata Knight Riders to facilitate a smooth transition for the national team. The two previously combined to secure an IPL title for the franchise in 2024. Iyer highlighted Gambhir's aggressive tactical approach and his ability to define clear individual roles as key assets for the upcoming T20 fixtures. India prepares to face Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday to open the series. Following the Afghanistan matches, the squad will focus on the Asian Games, where they aim to defend their gold medal. Iyer remains committed to a game-by-game strategy, emphasizing that the team is prioritizing current preparations over future tournament goals.
