Sidney Rice joins the Independence Bowl 50th anniversary all-time team

The Independence Bowl named Sidney Rice the 19th player on its 50th Anniversary All-Time Team. The selection recognizes his performance as a South Carolina wide receiver during the 2005 Independence Bowl, where he recorded 12 receptions for 191 yards and one touchdown. Both totals set single-game bowl records at the time. Rice went on to play for the Minnesota Vikings and the Seattle Seahawks, where he earned a Super Bowl XLVIII ring. He retired in 2014 following a career marked by concussions. The bowl will announce the next player on its anniversary list, number 18, on September 7, 2026.
