Despite the lack of active negotiations following a front-office transition, the 23-year-old defenseman confirmed he intends to stay with Detroit. Edvinsson cited the absence of a general manager or president as the primary cause for the stalled talks. The Red Wings have until September 15 to secure an eight-year contract before the new collective bargaining agreement reduces the maximum duration to seven years. Edvinsson currently remains at training camp without a signed deal.
