Simon Edvinsson returns to North America amid contract uncertainty

Defenseman Simon Edvinsson is heading back to North America after spending time in Sweden. Although he remains unsigned, Edvinsson was open to joining the Detroit Red Wings training camp but contract talks did not materialize. His return raises questions about his future with Detroit and potential trade prospects with teams like the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins. While Edvinsson seeks to train with NHL-caliber coaches, there are no indications a contract agreement is imminent. The Red Wings may feel pressured to resolve Edvinsson's contract situation quickly as the season progresses.
