Sione Fukofuka named Australia women's rugby coach after leaving Scotland

Sione Fukofuka has been appointed as the new head coach of the Wallaroos, Australia's women's rugby team, starting in 2027. The announcement comes just days after the Scottish Rugby Union released him due to personal reasons, specifically to be closer to his family in Australia. The SRU expressed surprise at the quick transition, despite acknowledging a release agreement and compensation from Rugby Australia. Fukofuka previously served as an assistant for the Wallaroos and oversaw five Tests with Scotland before his departure. Meanwhile, forwards coach Dave Butcher will take interim charge of the Scotland team during the WXV Global Series fixtures in September and October.
