Sioux Empire Lacrosse works to expand regional participation

Sioux Empire Lacrosse is seeking to increase interest and athlete participation in Sioux Falls. Organizers currently hold informal, pickup-style games for 12 to 15 players every Friday night at Sanford Crossing. The program, which began as a cross-training tool for hockey players in 2013, faced recruitment challenges following the COVID-19 pandemic. Current members are using social media to attract new players and hope to eventually organize formal tournaments and indoor box lacrosse teams. The league provides gear for newcomers and welcomes participants of all experience levels to join the Friday evening sessions. Games are scheduled to continue at the venue through the first week of October.
