Sis Bates makes franchise history in first game for Portland Cascade

Sis Bates, former Washington Huskies shortstop, made her mark in the inaugural game of the AUSL Portland Cascade on June 10. She achieved the first hit and scored the franchise's first run, but the Cascade fell to the Carolina Blaze 4-1, managing only four hits throughout the game. Bates went 2-for-3 at the plate, marking the first multi-hit game for the Cascade. The team was established as part of the AUSL's expansion from four to six teams for the 2026 season. They will look to rebound in their next match against the Blaze on June 10.
