Sixers select Labaron Philon Jr. at No. 22 in 2026 NBA draft

Summary

The Philadelphia 76ers drafted Labaron Philon Jr. from Alabama with the 22nd overall pick in the 2026 NBA draft. Philon is noted for his competitive play and offensive skills, averaging 22.0 points, 5.0 assists, and shooting 50.1% in his sophomore season. This selection aims to provide rest for Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe, who logged heavy minutes last season. As the only player drafted by the Sixers, Philon is expected to contribute immediately, complementing the team's other guards. The focus now shifts to how he integrates into the roster and potentially forms a strong second unit alongside Quentin Grimes, depending on offseason moves.
