Ski mountaineering advances toward 2030 Winter Olympics inclusion

Ski mountaineering is moving closer to becoming part of the Winter Olympics at the 2030 French Alps Games following the approval from the IOC Executive Board. The French Alps organizers proposed to add the sport, alongside maintaining events from the 2026 Olympics. This proposal, emphasizing the sport's values and the region's connection to it, will move to the IOC membership for final approval in two weeks. The sport made its Olympic debut at the Milan Cortina Games earlier in 2026, where France excelled in the medal standings.
