SMU football secures narrow 27-24 victory over Florida State on Monday

The SMU Mustangs defeated the Florida State Seminoles 27-24 in a Labor Day contest at Doak S. Campbell Stadium. The game experienced a nearly two-hour delay following a stadium-wide power outage, which also disrupted game clocks and coach-to-player communication equipment. Despite forcing four turnovers, Florida State struggled to convert those opportunities into points, citing offensive inconsistencies and defensive breakdowns. SMU quarterback Kevin Jennings connected with Yannick Smith for a 79-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to regain the lead. Nick Reed eventually secured the win for the Mustangs with a 20-yard field goal with 21 seconds remaining.
