SoCon unveils new tournament format for 2027 basketball championships

The Southern Conference (SoCon) announced a redesigned tournament format for the 2027 Ingles SoCon Basketball Championships in Spartanburg, S.C. The new structure includes all nine women's programs and all 11 men's programs, featuring an expanded opening round and a revised path to the title game. The championships return to the Harrah’s Cherokee Center in Asheville from March 3-7, 2027. The women's tournament begins with a first-round game on March 3, while the men's opening day features three games, expanding from two to three matchups. SoCon Interim Commissioner Geoff Cabe emphasized the excitement surrounding the tournament and the inclusion of Tennessee Tech, which will participate for the first time.
