Sofia Cosculluela wins Washington's first NCAA heptathlon title

Washington Huskies sophomore Sofia Cosculluela achieved a program milestone by winning the NCAA heptathlon championship on Saturday. After starting in fifth place following the first day of competition, she excelled in her strongest events on Saturday. Cosculluela set a school record in the long jump with a leap of 21-4 3/4 and finished second in the javelin, securing an overall lead. Her final score of 6,182 points established a new school record and solidified her title as the NCAA's best all-around women's athlete. The Huskies ranked seventh overall in the NCAA Outdoor Championships with a total of 28 team points from Cosculluela and other performances.
