Sofia Rivera shoots 69 to tie for sixth in U.S. Junior Girls

Sofia Rivera from St. Augustine shot a 3-under-par 69 in the first round of the U.S. Junior Girls Amateur at Old Chatham Golf Club in Durham, N.C. Rivera made six birdies but finished six shots off the lead, held by Amelia Harris of Australia, who recorded an impressive 8-under 28 on the back nine. Rivera's round included birdies on Nos. 2, 4, 9, 10, 12, and 18, and she is currently tied for sixth place as she prepares for her second round on July 14 at 12:55 p.m. Rivera is three shots clear of the cut line to advance to match play.
