Sol Ruca defends title on WWE Raw; Breakker faces Otis tonight

Raw airs tonight (July 27) with a live show emanating from Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, California. This is the final episode of Raw during the five week build to SummerSlam, which takes place on Saturday (Aug. 1) and Sunday (Aug. 2) night. Here’s what Bron Breakker and Sol Ruca get for not making the cut at SummerSlam Just because a wrestler holds a championship in WWE doesn’t guarantee that person a spot at SummerSlam’s two night extravaganza. The card for this weekend’s PLE might already be full with 12 total matches announced, yet WWE creative didn’t find anything for Women’s Intercontinental Champion Sol Ruca and World Tag Team Champions The Vision to do at the biggest party of the summer. Instead of working a match at SummerSlam, Ruca gets to defend her championship tonight against The Judgment Day’s Raquel Rodriguez. Ruca already retained the belt against her earlier this month on Raw, and Raquel has not won a match since then to earn a rematch. Nonetheless, the rematch is happening tonight. IYO SKY and Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan got involved last time they wrestled, so perhaps Ruca’s title match will once again be a vehicle to promote Morgan vs. SKY at SummerSlam. Meanwhile, The Vision soundly defeated Je’Von Evans and Dragon Lee last week on Raw, before beating the shit out of Maxxine Dupri’s former friends Otis and Akira Tozawa in the post-match segment. Bron Breakker and Austin Theory now get to face Otis and Tozawa in an official match tonight, but the championship is not on the line. Hey, if Breakker really wants to make the cut at SummerSlam, perhaps he should throw the match tonight so that Alpha Academy deserves a rematch with the gold on the line. Tune into Raw tonight to find out if these matches for Ruca and The Vision are their consolation prizes for missing out on SummerSlam, or if WWE actually has an angle to get some of these champions on the PLE card this weekend. The rest of the card World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins will go face-to-face one last time tonight before they fight over the title in the main event of SummerSlam. Is Roman desperate enough to send his personal assassin / lap dog Jacob Fatu to attack Seth? Has Rollins agreed to join forces with Solo Sikoa and lay a trap for Solo to ambush the Tribal Chief? Will Reigns and Rollins keep everyone else out of it and just punch each other in the face instead? Brock Lesnar is back on Raw tonight to do a SummerSlam weigh-in segment with Oba Femi, and Triple H is on hand to keep things from getting out of control. If one of these wrestlers doesn’t make a certain weight range, will their Hell in a Cell match at SummerSlam be canceled? Does Paul Heyman get to step on the scale as well? Which of these men, if any, will talk the most shit and get hit? Joe Hendry and Danhausen are performing a concert tonight on Raw, one week after tormenting several cursed Judgment Day members. Do JD McDonagh and that little shithead Domink Mysterio have a plan for getting the last laugh on these guys before Dom fights Danhausen at SummerSlam, or will the babyfaces continue to humiliate The Judgment Day with no repercussions? Rusev and Ethan Page get a chance to redeem themselves in singles action after losing a tag team match last week on Raw. It’s Rusev vs Je’Von Evans tonight, as well as Ethan Page vs. WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio. The official preview on WWE’s web site doesn’t actually include Rey’s match, but GM Adam Pearce said it’s happening. Other stuff to keep an eye on – Last week on Raw, Lyra Valkyria talked as if she got rid of Bayley from WWE for good. However, Bayley was back in action against Lyra and Sol Ruca at a house show over the weekend. Is this a case where house shows don’t count in kayfabe, and Lyra will continue talking trash on Raw as if Bayley hasn’t been seen since Saturday Night’s Main Event? – While Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins are busy doing main event level promos tonight, will the SummerSlam story for LA Knight, Solo Sikoa, and Royce Keys vs. The Usos and Jacob Fatu be stuck at the kids’ table as its own separate entity? Shouldn’t the megastar interrupt and attack the OTC at some point given that he can’t keep Roman’s name out of his mouth? Will Knight bring up Jey Uso’s love life and divorce if he cuts a promo on the returning Uce tonight? – Chad Gable and Intercontinental Champion Penta co-existed just fine last week as they worked together to win a tag team match. Does WWE have a more interesting angle planned for tonight to add some heat to their babyface versus babyface match at SummerSlam? Will they get angry trying to outdo each other’s hand gestures or something? – Big Cass is returning to WWE on Aug. 3, but will there be a new video package tonight that gives any hints about Enzo Amore? – Where the f*** is Becky Lynch? Is she really missing out on SummerSlam this year? What will you be looking for on Raw?
