Song Yadong defeats Umar Nurmagomedov at UFC Fight Night 286

Song Yadong defeated Umar Nurmagomedov at UFC Fight Night 286 in Shanghai on Saturday. The bantamweight contenders fought early in the second round when Yadong landed a knockout punch via an uppercut. Sean O'Malley, who previously fought and defeated Yadong in January at UFC 324, observed the match and remarked on the implications for the bantamweight title picture. O'Malley suggested that Yadong may now be positioned for a championship opportunity depending on the outcome of the upcoming trilogy bout between Petr Yan and Merab Dvalishvili in October. The bantamweight division remains crowded, with Mario Bautista also mentioned as a potential contender. Yadong entered the bout as an underdog before securing the finish.
