Sonny Gray pitches seven shutout innings in Red Sox victory over Orioles

Sonny Gray threw seven shutout innings to lead the Boston Red Sox to a 5-0 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Friday at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Gray allowed few opportunities for the Orioles, who failed to drive in a run across eight at-bats with runners in scoring position. Eli White broke the scoreless tie in the sixth inning with a base-loaded single. The victory follows a bench-clearing incident between the two teams during Thursday's game involving Blaze Alexander and Nick Sogard. Players from Boston appeared to reference the prior night's argument during their victory celebrations throughout the evening. Despite being shorthanded in the lineup, Boston relied on production from its bottom four hitters to secure the shutout win.
