Sophie Valentino, Cadence Koehler nominated for Athlete of the Week

Voting is now open for the Poughkeepsie Journal Girls Athlete of the Week for September 7-13. Candidates include Sophie Valentino of Highland girls soccer, who netted three goals in a 5-0 win against Rondout Valley, and Cadence Koehler from Spackenkill girls soccer, who scored three goals in a 9-0 victory over Red Hook. Other nominees include players from volleyball teams, such as Olivia Besteiro, Anna Maiale, Caroline Urso, Julia Martin, and Callie Meyer. Coaches can submit player stats through an established email for future consideration. Polls close at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, with results announced Monday morning.
