South Bend Cubs clinch first-half title, Smokies tie for first place

The South Bend Cubs secured the Midwest League West Division title with a 6-4 win over the Peoria Chiefs on June 14. Koen Moreno and Jackson Brockett led the pitching efforts, while Josiah Hartshorn and Jose Escobar each hit two-run home runs in a five-run first inning. The Knoxville Smokies also had a strong performance, defeating the Montgomery Biscuits 12-5, which ties them for first place in the Southern League North Division. Jefferson Rojas contributed with a three-run home run in a six-run third inning. The Iowa Cubs fell to the Louisville Bats in a tight 4-3 contest, despite Kevin Alcántara's strong batting in the game.
