South Carolina will owe North Carolina $1 million by August 1 due to a canceled home-and-home football series originally scheduled for 2028 and 2029. The schools mutually agreed to end the series, which was impacted by conference scheduling changes expected in 2026. South Carolina's athletic director, Jeremiah Donati, notified UNC's Bubba Cunningham in a letter dated April 16. The cancellation results from adjustments in SEC scheduling, which requires teams to play nine conference games each season. This is not the first scheduling change for South Carolina, as they previously canceled a series with Miami planned for the 2026 and 2027 seasons.
