South Carolina women's basketball to host PowHER Player Classic tournament

South Carolina women's basketball will host the inaugural PowHER Player Classic, a tournament featuring three HBCUs, on November 28-29 at Colonial Life Arena. The event includes Alabama A&M, NC Central, and Tennessee State, with the first game between Alabama A&M and NC Central. Coach Dawn Staley highlighted the importance of providing access and opportunities through basketball, emphasizing her commitment to scheduling HBCU competitions. The tournament will feature a community service event on Thanksgiving and an NIL Marketplace the following day. Staley has actively scheduled games against HBCUs throughout her tenure as coach.
