Students from the Sports Turf Management program at Southeast Technical College are working at Minnehaha Country Club to prepare for the upcoming Sanford International. The volunteers are assisting the grounds crew with tasks such as raking bunkers and general course maintenance in anticipation of the 54-hole tournament. Tournament director Davis Trosin noted the partnership provides essential labor to get the course championship-ready for the field of golfers over age 50. The event, which begins this Friday and concludes on Sunday, also features a scholarship program funded by the tournament to support Southeast Technical College students. Participant Tyler Henson, a second-year student, indicated that the experience serves as a practical introduction to the industry as he considers future career paths in sports turf management, including potential work at NFL facilities.
