Southern Heritage Classic features football and community events in Memphis

The 37th annual Southern Heritage Classic returns to Memphis on September 11 and 12, featuring a series of community and cultural events alongside the central football rivalry. Organized by Fred Jones Jr. since 1990, the event culminates in a game between the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions and the Alcorn State Braves on September 12 at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium. Leading up to the game, the city will host a college and career fair, a parade, a fashion show, and a golf tournament hosted by Penny Hardaway. Other scheduled festivities include a competitive battle of the bands at Whitehaven High School and a ticketed tailgate. The football game will conclude with an AutoZone Halftime Show and a post-game battle of the bands. Tickets for the various events are available through standard vendors and local organizers.
