Southern Miss scrimmage features quarterback competition, injury updates

Southern Miss football conducted its first preseason scrimmage on August 15, focusing on the quarterback battle. Redshirt senior Ethan Hampton, a leading candidate, exited early with a hand injury but later received clearance with no structural damage. Senior Landry Lyddy and sophomore John White shared quarterback duties, demonstrating mixed results; both were intercepted once, and no touchdowns were scored. The defense impressed with 10 sacks, including contributions from Jameer Lewis and linebacker Tyler Lassiter.
